Certain that there is magic in this world, 10-year-old Vanessa and her best friend, Bella, had planned to find it and learn how to use it. When Bella and her family leave for a two-month trip to visit grandparents, Vanessa faces a long summer with nothing to do and nobody to do it with.
Then, as if in answer to her wish for adventure, a small black cat shows up. It looks like a tiny panther, but the veterinarian says it is feral and arranges to send it to a sanctuary. Vanessa just can’t let that happen!
As the summer unfolds, Vanessa learns the importance of family, experiences the growth and confidence that new skills bring, and finds magic in the most unexpected places.

Born and raised in Busan, South Korea, YoungJu’s childhood was filled with folktales, books, drawing, and daydreaming. After initially pursuing a career as a schoolteacher, her passion for visual storytelling guided her to the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, where she honed her skills to become an illustrator. She now resides in Vienna, Virginia.
What a young person might want to do if they wish to pursue a career as an artist?
Visual artists usually express their thoughts through visual instruments like drawing, painting, sculpturing, filming, etc. When you create visually attractive art, you must convey your thoughts, ideas, and skills. Thus, you should read a lot, experience a lot, and practice your instruments/skills, like drawing a lot.
