When Mojave Middle School’s popular music teacher, Mr. Whalen, takes an unexpected leave of absence due to a terrible accident, teachers and students are stunned and upset. All holiday events and choir performances have been cancelled, including the annual holiday assembly. The cheerfulness and exuberance that would normally fill the school’s halls right after Thanksgiving has been replaced with gloom and sadness.
Vanessa and Bella are determined to find a way to help their friends reclaim the holiday spirit and send a message of hope and cheer to Mr. Whalen. Their moms tell them they can have a party, but only if they participate in the planning, and manage some of the details. The two girls have no idea what that means, but they are determined to make it happen!
